Essay 002 - Australia

January 4th, 2025

Byron Bay, Australia

When I close my eyes

I see the waves

In perfect rhythm and

interval, rising and falling

I’m small next to them,

powerless to their strength

Floating and bobbing, up and

down like the lub-dub of

my heart

I feel calm despite the

real danger.

——

Australia is an amazing place. There’s a palpable energy here that courses through all life here.

All of life exists in perfect

harmony. Bound by life-force

that is given to us. The

heart beats in rhythm as

the waves form and crash.

Our lungs expand and our

chest rises like the rising

sun. Our neurons fire like

lightning in the sky.

Okay, back to Australia. Outdoors and activity are embedded in everything here. 80 year olds active and running alongside barefoot children. The climate makes a huge difference. But the main thing is the sea. The ocean provides, physically and spiritually. I really like it here and can see why it’s one of the most desirable places in the world to live. I’ve been grounded, active, creative, and introspective since arriving. Time is flying.

I’ll be back.
